Alaxan Patriots dreaming of supremacy

This weekend, when the Cambodian Basketball League in association with Western Union returns to the Beeline Arena, all eyes will be firmly fixed on the 6pm fixture. When Alaxan Patriots take to the court!

Cambodian Basketball League Alaxan Patriots vs. Post Buffaloes

This weekend the Patriots will be looking to stay ahead of the chasing pack by continuing their winning streak. The Patriots are among the CBL’s elite, being one of only 3 teams yet to record defeat. But no-one, and I mean no-one, has steamrolled all opposition like the Patriots. I guess that’s why they’re top of the title.

The other two teams IRB the Lords and Extra Joss Warriors are also in action this weekend, which means when the Patriots leave the court on Saturday they could very possibly be the only team to sit on 4 and 0.

“Every Team is seeking to win this Saturday. We are too!  Will just do it 1 game at a time and not think of the 3-0 card, we have right now. Every game is (like) our 1st Game, we have to win.”

Sports Express caught up with some NSK Dream players in the stand last weekend after their game against the Extra Joss Warriors. Well, needless to say they were a little worried about this week’s competition.

But Chris Borja worried? Naw! In fact, he was quiet philosophical about this weekend’s encounter. In typical Borja style all he had to say was “the ball is round and the clock is ticking. It’s everybody’s ballgame.”

“We are not worried… We will have to give them a good defense. I mean a TIGHT DEFENSE!”

NSK Dream do have a chance, all be it a slim one, but a chance nonetheless. Despite putting up little fight in last week’s battle with the Warriors, this weekend presents the kinda contest the Dream like. Last weekend was tough and physical against opposition that may as well be giants. The Patriots on the other hand have skills and like to play the ball, but so do the Dream.

Last weekend Chris Borja told us his formula for success and yes, it was literally a formula “The Best Defense + A Good Offense = A Good Result in a game of Basketball”, but will it all change this weekend?

“Alaxan FR Patriots will never change its formula. A little bit of fine tuning will take place but the formula will still be the same.”

The Patriots will also be hoping that shooting guard Eljay Bonaobra will be back in action after returning to training last Wednesday, where he showed promising signs of recovery.

The Patriots’ next game will be the 6pm throw-up this Saturday July 20th at Beeline Arena just over the Chroy Changvar Bridge.
